Our owner and pediatric dentist, Dr. Amy Waxman, hopes for every child to have a fun and positive experience at the dentist and hopes to alleviate fears for anxious children. Her primary goal is to develop long lasting relationships with her patients and their families and to provide the best care possible in a warm, caring, and child friendly environment.
Dr. Amy received her undergraduate education from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts. She then spent a year in Washington, DC where she worked for The Children’s Dental Health Project, a non-profit organization that promotes policies to improve children’s access to oral health. Dr. Amy then went on to Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts where she graduated with a DMD. Following dental school, Dr. Amy completed a two year residency program in Pediatric Dentistry at New York University College of Dentistry and Bellevue Hospital. While in residency, she participated in two week-long dental outreach trips to treat the dental needs of an underserved community in Nicaragua.
After graduation, Dr. Amy worked as an associate at a pediatric dental practice in Long Island, New York where she gained invaluable experience working with children. Dr. Amy is NERB, CPR, and PALS certified and is an active candidate for board certification from the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. She is a member of several professional organizations including the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the Raritan Valley Study Club.
Dr. Amy resides in Westfield with her husband Brett, daughter Chloe, and their energetic Puggle puppy, Bodie.
Dr. Lisa Honig, our orthodontist and the newest addition to our team, loves working with her patients to give them the smile they want and deserve. She looks forward to developing lasting relationships with her patients and their families as they undergo the smile transformation process together.
Born and raised in Wilmington, Delaware, Dr. Lisa’s interest in orthodontics was first piqued at an early age spending summers helping out at her father’s orthodontics practice. She has been pursuing a career in this rewarding field ever since. Dr. Lisa graduated from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor with a Bachelor of Since in Psychology. She then moved on to receive her Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry, where she was inducted into the national dental honor society Omicron Kappa Upsilon. After graduating from dental school, Dr. Lisa completed a three-year residency at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, where she was named Chief Resident in her final year. Dr. Lisa’s training has exposed her to hundreds of challenging orthodontic treatments, including interceptive, comprehensive, and orthognathic surgery cases.
Dr. Lisa is trained and certified in a multitude of orthodontics techniques, including metal and ceramic braces, Invisalign, self-ligating brackets, expanders, and laser dentistry. Dr. Lisa is ADEX and BLS certified, is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, and is eligible for board certification from the American Board of Orthodontics.
Dr. Lisa lives in Brooklyn with her fiancé Alex, where their favorite activities include trying to sample as many of the diverse food options in the city as possible and spending Saturdays in the fall cheering on Michigan football!
Dawn has been practicing dental hygiene with Dr. Sklar since 1973. She graduated from Middlesex County College with an AAS and a certificate in Dental Hygiene. Over the years, Dawn has been active in providing presentations on good oral hygiene and nutrition to students in nursery and elementary schools throughout Edison Township during Children's Dental Health Month. Dawn greatly enjoys watching her patients grow into young adults with beautiful teeth and great oral hygiene. She has three married children, two grandchildren, and another on the way. In her spare time, Dawn enjoys baking, reading, yoga and Pilates. She lives in Edison with her husband John and their cat, Marjorie Ann.
Amanda is the newest member of the Dentistry for Kids team! She graduated from Middlesex County College with an AAS in Dental Hygiene. Prior to becoming a hygienist, Amanda worked in the medical field as a medical assistant caring for pediatric patients. Amanda lives in Woodbridge Township and looks forward to providing excellent care and education to our patients.
Ann has been working as a dental assistant for over 28 years. She attended Union County Tech and is also a certified and registered dental assistant. Ann lives in Cranford with her husband and has two children who live in Portland, OR. In her free time, she loves to travel, garden, and enjoys home decorating.
Susan has been an assistant for over 30 years. She graduated from Middlesex County College and is a certified and registered dental assistant. She enjoys all aspects of dentistry, and especially working with children and watching our patients grow. Susan lives with her husband and two daughters in Colonia and loves spending time on the beach.
Melissa comes to us with 12 years of experience working in pediatric dental offices. She is here to help with any questions relating to your dental insurance and child’s treatment plans. Melissa lives in Edison with her husband and 2 year old son.
If you have called our office, you have probably heard Nancy’s friendly voice! Nancy has been at the front desk of our office for 27 years. She is always there to help our patients with any scheduling, insurance, or treatment questions. Nancy lives in Metuchen and enjoys spending time with her two sons and four grandchildren.
