Dr. Amy Honig Waxman is very excited to join the team at Dentistry for Kids! She looks forward to meeting and getting to know all of the practice’s existing patients and their families and strives to create lasting relationships with them all. She hopes for every child to have a fun and positive experience at the dentist and hopes to alleviate fears for anxious children.
Dr. Amy is originally from Wilmington, Delaware where she spent her summers working in her father’s orthodontic practice. Dr. Amy received her undergraduate education from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts. She then spent a year in Washington, DC where she worked for The Children’s Dental Health Project, a non-profit organization that promotes policies to improve children’s access to oral health. Dr. Amy then went on to Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts where she graduated with a DMD. Following dental school, Dr. Amy completed a two year residency program in Pediatric Dentistry at New York University College of Dentistry and Bellevue Hospital. While in residency, she participated in two week-long dental outreach trips to treat the dental needs of an underserved community in Nicaragua.
After graduation, Dr. Amy worked as an associate at a pediatric dental practice in Long Island, New York where she gained invaluable experience working with children. Dr. Amy is NERB, CPR, and PALS certified and is an active candidate for board certification from the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. She is a member of several professional organizations including the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the Raritan Valley Study Club.
Dr. Amy resides in Westfield with her husband Brett, daughter Chloe, and their energetic Puggle puppy, Bodie.
Dr. Talbot Sklar has maintained an active practice in Edison, NJ for thirty-two years. While he is cutting back on some of his duties, Dr. Sklar will still be in office two days a week by continuing to provide orthodontic care and laser dentistry for our patients.
He graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson University, Temple University School of Dentistry, and New York University School of Dentistry with a specialty in Pediatric Dentistry. He has advanced training and experience in child growth guidance and development, behavior management, pediatric orthodontics and laser dentistry.
Dr. Sklar is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and a member of the American Dental Association, Middlesex County Dental Society, NJ Association of Pediatric Dentists, American Orthodontic Society, Academy of Laser Dentistry, Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity, and the Raritan Valley Study Club.
Dr. Sklar has lectured in local schools to both students and parent groups on various topics and to expectant parents at the JFK Lifestyle Institute on infant and prenatal dental care.
Dr. Sklar lives in Westfield with his wife, Susan, and enjoys spending time with his children and two grandchildren.
Dawn has been practicing dental hygiene with Dr. Sklar since 1973. She graduated from Middlesex County College with an AAS and a certificate in Dental Hygiene. Over the years, Dawn has been active in providing presentations on good oral hygiene and nutrition to students in nursery and elementary schools throughout Edison Township during Children's Dental Health Month. Dawn greatly enjoys watching her patients grow into young adults with beautiful teeth and great oral hygiene. She has three married children, two grandchildren, and another on the way. In her spare time, Dawn enjoys baking, reading, yoga and Pilates. She lives in Edison with her husband John and their cat, Marjorie Ann.
Amanda is the newest member of the Dentistry for Kids team! She graduated from Middlesex County College with an AAS in Dental Hygiene. Prior to becoming a hygienist, Amanda worked in the medical field as a medical assistant caring for pediatric patients. Amanda lives in Woodbridge Township and looks forward to providing excellent care and education to our patients.
Ann has been working as a dental assistant for over 28 years. She attended Union County Tech and is also a certified and registered dental assistant. Ann lives in Cranford with her husband and has two children who live in Portland, OR. In her free time, she loves to travel, garden, and enjoys home decorating.
Susan has been an assistant for over 30 years. She graduated from Middlesex County College and is a certified and registered dental assistant. She enjoys all aspects of dentistry, and especially working with children and watching our patients grow. Susan lives with her husband and two daughters in Colonia and loves spending time on the beach.
If you have called our office, you have probably heard Nancy’s friendly voice! Nancy has been at the front desk of our office for 27 years. She is always there to help our patients with any scheduling, insurance, or treatment questions. Nancy lives in Metuchen and enjoys spending time with her two sons and four grandchildren.
