We typically use composite resin fillings—a tooth-colored material that bonds directly to the tooth and is strong enough for both front and back teeth. Composite fillings are safe, durable, and blend in with your child’s natural smile.
There are other types of fillings, such as gold, porcelain, and amalgam (silver), but composite resin is the only material used in our pediatric office due to its natural appearance and effectiveness.

- A numbing gel or local anesthetic keeps your child comfortable
- Dr. Waxman gently removes the decay
- The filling material is placed, shaped, and polished
- We check your child’s bite and make small adjustments as needed
For children who feel anxious, we also offer nitrous oxide (laughing gas) for a calmer, more relaxed experience.
Aftercare and Follow-Up
Most children can return to eating and playing the same day. We'll share tips for keeping the filled tooth clean and healthy at home, and we’ll check the filling at each regular visit to make sure it stays strong.
